This is satire
Journifans is satire. A platform where journalists “offer themselves” the way creators do elsewhere – with a subscription price, kinks and feet pics. Nobody gets paid here. That’s exactly the point.
Why does Journifans exist?
Good journalism takes time, research and people who can make a living from it. For many who work in newsrooms or as freelancers, that is less and less a given. Journifans exaggerates the situation until it’s funny – and hopes the laugh catches in your throat a little.
What’s real and what isn’t?
- Not real: subscriptions, prices, earnings, the messages in your inbox and anything that looks like money. Not a single franc changes hands, neither to you nor to us.
- Not real: the demo profiles. They are made up and marked “Demo”. Any resemblance to real people would be coincidental.
- Real: the profiles of the people taking part. They are journalists and media people poking fun at themselves.
- Real: the images for sharing. They are the actual goal: share your card so more people talk about how journalism gets paid for.
What can you do?
Take out a real subscription. Buy a newspaper. Support an outlet you read, listen to or watch – local, regional or national.
And if you work in journalism yourself: join in, make your card and share it.
